Ever since I was little boy, a Sunday morning stroll has been a staple in my house. Whether it’s a leisure drive out to the beach or a walk in the woods, spending time with my family has always been most important. In Steamboat, our favorite family outing is the Yampa River Core Trail. This 7.5 mile paved bike path not only connects one end of the city to the other, but also ties our community together.
It has been a beautiful week here in Steamboat Springs! The temperature today is in the mid 80’s to low 90’s with literally only a few clouds in the sky. It is perfect weather to be outside. For lunch today, my sister (who is visiting town for the first time from Seattle) and I walked from my office at the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association along the Yampa River Core trail to Old Town Steamboat Springs. It is a comfortable walk with great views and the peaceful Yampa River flowing along side the trail. We got lunch at the Bamboo Market on 11th and Yampa Street and then made our way back to the office. The whole walk I kept reminding myself how lucky I am to live here in Steamboat Springs.
After some weekday showers, this weekend’s forecast is for sunny skies. With the grass so green and the skies so blue, this weekend will be full of lots of activities. With anticipation of all that we can do this weekend I think making it to the top of the list is taking a boat out on Stagecoach Reservoir for some tubing and wake boarding action, playing nine holes of golf either Saturday or Sunday morning and a bike ride up Spring Creek Trail or on the Yampa River Core Trail. Whatever we do this weekend is going to be action packed and full of fun!
What are you doing in Steamboat Springs this weekend? Suggestions are always welcome!
There is nothing I love more than waking up early in the morning in Steamboat and going outside to enjoy the cool, crisp mountain air. It is so refreshing to ride my bike to work along the Yampa River Core Trail. As I cruise along, watching all the wildlife along the Yampa, I take pleasure in the coolness, knowing, however, that the day will warm up and will soon be the perfect temperature for swimming or perhaps boating on Stagecoach Reservoir. By nightfall it will once again be cool and there will be no need for air conditioning when I go to bed.
